AP’s Culture-Led Growth Inspires Mauritius: President Gokhool
After offering prayers at the Lord Venkateswara temple in Tirumala, the President visited the Veda Vignana Peetham at Dharmagiri
Tirupati: Mauritius President Dharambeer Gokhool on Wednesday said his country was shaping its development plans by drawing inspiration from Andhra Pradesh, which he said had achieved progress by blending cultural traditions with modern technology. After offering prayers at the Lord Venkateswara temple in Tirumala, the President visited the Veda Vignana Peetham at Dharmagiri. He was received by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Additional executive officer Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary and the institution’s principal, Kuppa Siva Subrahmanya Avadhani. Special prayers were offered to Lord Venkateswara and Godadevi Ammavaru at the Ananda Nilayam, followed by Veda Parayanam by faculty members and students. The principal later briefed the President on the Peetham’s history and activities. Addressing the gathering, Gokhool said he began his career as a teacher and rose to become the President of Mauritius, emphasising the vital role teachers play in nation-building. Recalling his earlier visit to Tirumala during the World Telugu Conference, he said Andhra Pradesh’s culture-rooted development was a source of inspiration for Mauritius. He also praised Indians for their warmth and hospitality. The Mauritius President announced that a Vedic school would be established at the under-construction Harihara temple in Mauritius with guidance from the TTD. Earlier in the day, he offered prayers at the Bhu Varaha Swamy temple before darshan at the main shrine, where he was received by endowments minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu, Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal, and District Collector Dr S. Venkateswar. He later had Vaikunta Dwara darshan and received Veda Aseervachanam at the Ranganayakula Mandapam.
