AP Wins National Energy Conservation Award For Fourth Straight Year

VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh has once again reaffirmed its national leadership in energy efficiency by winning the prestigious National Energy Conservation Award–2025 for the fourth consecutive year, a rare achievement among Indian states. The State secured First Prize in the State Energy Efficiency Performance Award (Group II).

Announcing the honour, Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand said President Droupadi Murmu will present the award on National Energy Conservation Day, December 14, at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. The state government has nominated L. Sivashankar, CMD, APSPDCL, to receive the award on behalf of APSECM.

Vijayanand said Andhra Pradesh’s consistent performance across buildings, industry, municipalities, agriculture, DISCOMs and transport placed it among the country’s most progressive states in energy efficiency. AP topped Group II with 89.25 points in the State Energy Efficiency Index (SEEI)–2025, registering a 2.3 per cent improvement over 2024.

He attributed the success to the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and the support of energy minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar, along with strong inter-departmental coordination. He congratulated APSECM CEO S. Nagalakshmi, her team and all departments involved.

Key contributors included the Integrated Clean Energy Policy, AP Industrial Development Policy 4.0 (2024–29), sector-specific MSME and electronics policies, enforcement of the Energy Conservation Building Code, efficiency projects in schools and hospitals, municipal pumping reforms and farmer awareness programmes. Nagalakshmi thanked the Bureau of Energy Efficiency and state departments, assuring wider outreach to further unlock energy-saving potential.
