KAKINADA: The state government would reduce power tariff by Rs 1.19 paise per unit before completion of the five- year tenure of the alliance government, Housing Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy has said.
This, he said, is part of the efforts to provide uninterrupted high-quality electricity at lower cost to the consumers. The government has already reduced the power tariff by Rs .13 paise per unit. “We are focusing on increasing power generation to meet the demand without causing a financial burden on the consumers.”
The minister laid the stone for a 33/11 KV sub-station at a cost of Rs 4.02 crore and for internal CC roads at a cost of `83 lakh in Chintalapalli village in Musunuru mandal of Eluru district on Sunday.
He claimed AP’s power sector “is a role model to the nation in uninterrupted power supply, quality power etc.” The NDA governments both at the Centre and in AP have drafted plans to provide quality power at low cost to the consumers.”
The state government, he said, is strengthening the power sector by introducing reforms. He criticised the previous state government for “neglecting” the power sector and attempting to impose “a burden of Rs 4,700 crore” on the people.
“However, CM Chandrababu Naidu is keen on not unduly burdening the people in their power consumption.
Modernisation of the new sub-stations, transmission lines, distributor systems and new electricity poles etc is being done in a speedy manner.”
He said modern technology is being used to minimize disruptions in power supply to curb technical losses. The government is moving forward with the goal of achieving self-sufficiency in the energy sector, while prioritizing the development of renewable energy sources.”
Parthasarathy said that once the new-substation construction was completed in Chintalapalli village, long-standing problems of the consumers would end. He asked the officials not to cause any delay in the sanctioning of agricultural connections to the farmers, and speed up clearance of the pending applications.
The AP central power distribution corporation director TVNS Murthy, superintendent engineer U Hanumayya and others were present.
