AP to Have 21 New Nutrition Rehabilitation Centres for Children
Six new NRCs that got sanction in 2026-27 would be coming up at Madanapalle, Chittoor, Rajamahendravaram, Machilipatnam, Hindupur and Tanuku.
Vijayawada:The Andhra Pradesh government would set up 21 new Nutrition Rehabilitation Centres with 175 additional beds for children suffering from malnutrition.
With this, the number of NRCs rose to 42 with a total of 515 beds in the state.
Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav in a statement here on Thursday stated, “As part of addicting additional NRCs and beds, eight NRCs with each having 10 beds, seven Integrated NRCs with each having five beds and six new NRCs with each having 10 beds are to be developed in a phased manner.”
The eight NRCs with 10 each beds would be coming up at Araku, Munchingput, Chinthapalli, Anakapalli, Bapatla, Nandyala, Sunnipenta and Narasaraopeta. The seven Integrated NRCs would be coming up at Addateegala, Y Ramavaram, Saluru, Palakonda, Badragiri, Kurupam and Chinamerangi.

A 10-bed NRC would have a medical officer, a nutrition advisor, a staff nurse, a cook and security staff and a cleaner-cum-attendant. For a 20-bed NRC, two medical officers and two nutrition advisors along with staff members would be posted.
For maintenance of NRCs, Rs 4.42 crore was allotted for 2026-27 as against Rs 3.56 crore in 2025-26 and Rs 3.75 crore in 2024-25.
