AP To Establish IIT, NEET Excellence Centres In All 25 Districts

ONGOLE: The Andhra Pradesh government will establish IIT and NEET Excellence Centres in all 25 districts to help students from economically weaker sections secure admissions to premier professional courses, social welfare minister Dola Sri Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy said on Monday.
Inspecting the construction of a new SC Girls’ Hostel at Santapeta in Ongole, the minister said the number of Excellence Centres had already been increased from three to 13 and that 12 more centres would be established to ensure one facility in each district.
He said the government was also providing free civil services coaching to 450 students and setting up new study circles at Ongole and Amalapuram. In addition, 250 nursing students are being imparted free German language training to enhance overseas employment opportunities.

Dr Dola said 25 new hostels were being constructed across the state under the PM-AJAY scheme at a cost of ₹86 crore. He added that ₹200 crore had been allocated for repairs and infrastructure augmentation in welfare hostels.
According to the minister, renovation works in 700 hostels have been completed at a cost of ₹143 crore, while ₹58 crore has been spent on constructing additional toilets in Ambedkar Gurukulams and welfare hostels.
He also announced the construction of a hostel for differently-abled students in Ongole at a cost of ₹3 crore and said proposals were under consideration to enhance hostel mess charges.
The minister reviewed the progress of the SC Girls’ Hostel under construction at Santapeta and directed officials to ensure timely completion of the project.
