VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh would set up cooperative credit societies across all EWS and Kapu corporations, similar to the Brahmin cooperative credit society

This was announced on Friday by minister for BC, EWS welfare, S. Savita. The initiative aims to create at least one entrepreneur in every household, with priority for EWS communities in MSME parks across constituencies.

At a meeting with EWS and Kapu corporation chairpersons and directors at the secretariat, the minister reviewed welfare schemes and sought feedback from community associations. She said the government was committed to the empowerment of Brahmin, Arya Vysya, Kamma, Reddy, Kshatriya, Kapu and other economically backward communities.

Savita said the 2025–26 Budget allocates ₹10,608.61 crore to EWS and community corporations, including major allocations to the Kapu (₹4,884.83 crore), Reddy, Kamma, Arya Vysya, Kshatriya and Brahmin corporations.

She said the chief minister was giving top priority to Kapu development, completing pending district-level Kapu buildings and community halls abandoned earlier.

The minister said the foreign education assistance scheme would soon be revived. Under the earlier NTR Videsi Vidya scheme, 2,234 students studied abroad, but the previous government restricted it to just 60 students, she said.
