VIJAYAWADA: Former AP NGO president Nallamala Chandrasekhar Reddy criticised the government's handling of the village and ward secretariat system and condemned the classification of employees into A, B, and C grades, questioning the logic behind such arbitrary categorization.
Addressing a press meet here in Friday, he criticised the government's handling of the village and ward secretariat system, stating that former Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy introduced the system for efficient governance, but Chandrababu Naidu has deliberately weakened it.
Chandrasekhar Reddy slammed Chandrababu for deceiving volunteers by promising a stipend of Rs 10,000 and later abandoning them, leaving thousands unemployed. “Is wealth creation about depriving employees of their livelihoods?” he questioned, emphasizing that many trusted the government, expecting job security and benefits, only to be betrayed.
He explained that on January 25, the government released G. O. MS No.1, declaring that out of 1,27,175 employees working in the secretariat system, only 1,15,000 would be retained, pushing 15,490 employees into uncertainty. He called this decision cruel and unacceptable.
Chandrasekhar condemned the classification of employees into A, B, and C grades, questioning the logic behind such arbitrary categorization. “Why are such drastic decisions being made without consulting employees? This exposes the government's true intentions,” he asserted.
“How can Andhra Pradesh achieve prosperity when employees are treated like this?” he asked, demanding immediate convening of a Joint Staff Council meeting to address these critical concerns.
