AP Showcases Waste Management Model Under Swachh Bharat 2.0

Vijayawada: Municipal administration minister P. Narayana on Wednesday highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s innovative waste management practices under Swachh Bharat 2.0 and reiterated the State government’s commitment to making Andhra Pradesh free of dumping yards.
The minister participated in a national workshop on best practices in urban cleanliness and solid waste management under Swachh Bharat 2.0 held in New Delhi.
Narayana said the state government was implementing sanitation programmes with public participation by creating awareness on cleanliness in both urban and rural areas.
He explained that Andhra Pradesh was adopting door-to-door garbage collection, segregation of wet and dry waste, scientific processing of waste and recycling methods as part of its waste management strategy.
Referring to the government’s long-term objective of eliminating dumping yards, the minister said waste-to-energy plants were being established to convert municipal waste into energy.
