AP Revenue To Grow By 8 Percent: CM
Tax collections should be monitored through the AP Tax Information System and there is a possibility of earning more tax revenue from the service sector, he said on Thursday.
VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has advised officials to focus on central funds and tax devolution.
Tax collections should be monitored through the AP Tax Information System and there is a possibility of earning more tax revenue from the service sector, he said on Thursday.
At a review meeting held at the secretariat, the CM examined the fiscal’s revenue estimates and said that the state revenue would grow by 8 per cent the current financial year. He instructed the officials to pay more attention to revenue generation.
Naidu suggested that attention be paid to increase AP’s own sources of income. Steps should be taken to ensure that petrol and diesel products for vehicles used for contract work in the state are purchased within the state, he said.
“Some contracting companies are losing state revenue due to purchasing petroleum products in neighbouring states. This should not be the case,” he said.
Saying that there is a possibility of generating an income of `1,500 crore from the red sandalwood reserves kept with the forest department, Naidu said focus should be placed on the sale of red sandalwood in the international market and “we must also look at ways to generate income through bamboo products.”
The CM said, “Public health is more important than excise revenue.”
Naidu said land registration values should be in line with financial transactions. Buying and selling should be scientifically analysed. It is not right to keep increasing the land values. Data analytics should be used for market values and property data.
Officials, he said, should use artificial intelligence to identify tax evasion and prevent leakages in government revenue. “Comprehensive plans should be made to increase state revenue and focus should be placed on the use of new technology.”
The CM clarified that RTGS and CCTV cameras should be used to ensure proper vehicle tax payments. He proposed continuing the current subsidy to promote electric vehicles. The scrap vehicle policy may be implemented in accordance with the central guidelines. Mining activities should be identified with drone and satellite technology and revenue should be monitored through data analytics,” he said.
The CM said auto mutation should be done in municipal corporations based on new technology, along with listing of the details received through RTGS. Errors in municipal records should be corrected and geo-tagging done. The tax collection process should be managed robustly by linking Aadhaar, mobile and electricity data, he said.
