AP Reports Showers in Some Areas, Extreme Heat in Others
Officials have cautioned that intense heat may be felt at isolated places across several districts.
Visakhapatnam: A weather system stretching from Karnataka through Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu to the Gulf of Mannar is expected to influence conditions across Andhra Pradesh in the coming days.
According to the State Disaster Management Authority, the system may bring light rains accompanied by lightning at isolated places on Thursday in districts, such as Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Manyam, Alluri, Polavaram, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, Kakinada, Konaseema, East and West Godavari, Eluru, Krishna, NTR, Sri Sathya Sai, YSR Kadapa, Chittoor, and Tirupati.
While showers are anticipated in some regions, others will have to brace themselves for extreme heat. Severe heatwave conditions are likely in G.K. Veedhi mandal of Alluri district and Chintur and Gurtedu mandals of Polavaram district.
Heatwave conditions are also expected in Munchingiputtu mandal of ASR district, Velerupadu mandal of Eluru district, and Kunavaram and Vararamachandrapuram mandals of Polavaram district.

Temperature recorded on Wednesday in the state underscored the severity of the heatwave. Thovi in Kurnool district recorded the highest temperature of 41.6°C, followed by Ventagiri in Tirupati district at 41.2°C, and Chintur in Polavaram district at 41°C. Salakamcheruvu in Anantapur district registered 40.7°C, while Jupadu Bunglow in Nandyal district recorded 40.6°C. Kukunuru in Eluru district and Erraguntla in YSR Kadapa district both reported 39.9°C. Kambham in Markapuram district, Vijayawada East in NTR district, and Durgi in Palnadu district recorded 39.8°C.
