AP Police Expands Welfare Facilities With Transit Homes, Canteen
AP Police is expanding welfare facilities with separate transit homes for men and women and a new central canteen at Mangalagiri.
The Andhra Pradesh Police Department is expanding welfare facilities for its personnel with separate transit accommodation for men and women and an Integrated Central Police Canteen at the APSP 6th Battalion in Mangalagiri.
DGP Harish Kumar Gupta laid the foundation stones for the projects on Friday. The transit facilities, named “Vihara” for men and “Vihari” for women, are aimed at providing accommodation to personnel visiting the AP Police Headquarters for official duties, bandobust, training, meetings and other assignments.
Each building will have a built-up area of about 13,603 sq. ft. across ground, first and second floors. Together, the facilities will accommodate around 120 men and 120 women. They are expected to provide safe and affordable accommodation while reducing the inconvenience and expense of arranging private lodging.
Gupta also laid the foundation stone for a 20,000-sq.-ft. Integrated Central Police Canteen, proposed as a pre-engineered building. The existing canteen has become inadequate for personnel working at the Police Headquarters and nearby establishments, including CID, Police Communications, PCS&S, OCTOPUS and PTO.
Gupta said the welfare and well-being of police personnel remained a priority and directed officials to ensure quality construction and timely completion of the three projects.
ADGP N. Madhusudhan Reddy and other senior police officers, including IGPs and DIGs, attended the programme.
