Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan, minister for education Nara Lokesh, and former chief minister and YSRC president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy have expressed their condolences on the death of former Isro chairman Dr K. Kasturirangan at the age of 84, highlighting his immense contributions to India’s scientific and educational landscape.

Naidu took to the social media platform ‘X’, stating, "Dr. K. Kasturirangan was a scientist par excellence. As ISRO Chairman, he successfully steered India’s space programmes for nine years, leaving an indelible mark. His contributions extended beyond space science, notably in formulating the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, shaping the future of learning in India.”

He further stated, “A highly decorated scientist and Padma Vibhushan awardee, Dr. Kasturirangan, led India’s most ambitious space-based High Energy Astronomy Observatory. His passing is a significant loss to the nation and the global scientific community. My deepest condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.”

Pawan Kalyan expressed his sorrow, saying, “The demise of Padma Vibhushan Dr. K. Kasturirangan, former ISRO chairman, is deeply saddening. He played a transformative role in India’s space programme, leading successful PSLV and GSLV satellite launches and establishing India as a global leader in cost-effective, reliable space missions. He also served as a Member of the Rajya Sabha and the Planning Commission. His passing is an irreplaceable loss to India’s science and technology. My heartfelt condolences to his family.”

Nara Lokesh added, “I am deeply saddened by the passing of Padma Vibhushan Dr. K. Kasturirangan, a towering figure in India’s space journey and education reform. He led ISRO during a transformative era, launching world-class satellites and positioning India among the top space-faring nations. His vision also shaped NEP 2020 and the new National Curriculum Framework. Heartfelt condolences to his family.”

Jagan Mohan Reddy paid tribute, saying, “Deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Dr K. Kasturirangan, former chairman of Isro, an eminent scientist, visionary educator, and passionate environmentalist. He leaves an indelible mark on India’s space history. My tributes to this legend. May his soul rest in peace.”
