Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has underscored the need to promote technology and reach it to every citizen to enable people to use it effectively.

Naidu chaired a review meeting here on Wednesday to evaluate progress in the implementation of several programmes that are taken up in collaboration with the US-based Bill Gates Foundation.
He said, “In today’s digital age, technology is abundant and this has accelerated service delivery. But the real challenge lies in ensuring that the technology reaches every citizen and is effectively utilized. Through initiatives like WhatsApp governance, AP has already begun delivering citizen services digitally. By August 15, nearly 95-97 per cent of government services would be made accessible online.”
However, people must be equipped to use these services meaningfully, he said.
The Chief Minister said the Gates Foundation was bringing in invaluable global expertise and proven models and hence the state government partnered with it.
The government, he said, is prioritising the application of technology in healthcare, education and agriculture as these are the foundational sectors of human development. The healthcare costs were rising and causing a financial burden on most people.
“In view of this, we are integrating technology into healthcare to reduce costs and to improve access. There would be blood tests for all every six months to enable early detection of diseases. The diagnostic data would help provide timely healthcare and preventive care," he said.
Naidu wanted farmers to access accurate, real-time information at every stage with regard to soil testing or crop sales so that they could make informed choices and correct deficiencies in advance.
He called for promotion of demand-based production to ensure that farmers get fair prices for their produce. “We would make technology available to the farmers to empower them.”
The CM spoke of the government’s plan to set up an Artificial Intelligence University in Amaravati to produce a new generation of AI professionals. He said the state would seek support from the Gates Foundation to establish it.
