AP JAC Welcomes Govt’s Assurance on Staff Demands

Vijayawada:The Andhra Pradesh Joint Action Committee (AP JAC) has welcomed the state government’s positive response to long-pending demands of employees, teachers and pensioners.
AP JAC chairman A. Vidyasagar and secretary general K.S.S. Prasad said the Chief Minister’s assurances followed a series of protest programmes and talks held on September 5.
Key decisions include constitution of a PRC committee, release of two pending DAs, clearance of surrender leave arrears and resolution of pensioners’ grievances. Nearly four lakh pensioners are expected to benefit. Improved health card funding will ensure timely hospital payments, strengthening medical services for 24 lakh employees, pensioners and their families.
The Chief Minister also assured that interim relief would be examined at an appropriate time and raising the retirement age in certain departments considered.
Pensioners’ Association president D. Venkateswarlu welcomed additional quantum pension for those above 70 years, citing rising medical and living costs.
AP JAC will hold a state-level meeting in the third week of September to decide further action and warned that agitation would resume if the assurances are delayed.
