AP High Court Adjourns PIL To Transfer Gade Sai Krishna Case To CBI
The Andhra Pradesh High Court posted the PIL for further hearing on July 6.
Amaravati: A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking transfer of the case related to Gade Sai Krishna's disappearance from Krishna Lanka Police Station to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was filed in the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Wednesday. During the hearing, the Advocate General told the court that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) comprising senior police officers was constituted to probe the case. He assured the bench that all measures are being taken to ensure a fair and impartial investigation.
The AG also informed the court that Circle Inspector SSSV Nagaraju, the main accused in the case, was arrested and a detailed probe by the SIT officials is underway.
Responding to the submissions, the High Court bench remarked, “Let’s wait and see what you do,” and posted the matter for further hearing on July 6.
AP Police on Tuesday arrested suspended police inspector SSSV Nagaraju (50) for his alleged role in the custodial death of Gade Sai Krishna following a complaint by Sai Krishna's mother, Gade Vijaya Lakshmi. Police booked Nagaraju under BNS sections 103 (1), which deals with murder, 127 (4) (wrongful confinement of a person for ten days or longer) and 127 (6) (secret, wrongful confinement of a person) and also BNSS 238 (which deals with the 'effect of errors' in criminal charges, ensuring that minor technical mistakes do not invalidate a trial). Vijaya Lakshmi accused Nagaraju of confining her son in the police station, torturing him to death, and later cremating him clandestinely.
