Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh High Court has declared the fee structure fixed for engineering colleges in the state for the 2023–26 block period, as per GO 17, as temporary.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur and Justice Cheemalapati Ravi pronounced the verdict on Wednesday. The court directed that fees must be fixed based on recommendations from the AP State Council of Higher Education and the AP Higher Education Regulatory and Monitoring Commission (APHERMC), subject to the state government's approval.

The bench instructed APHERMC to fix the temporary fees and communicate them to colleges. It also asked the Commission to give colleges an opportunity to raise objections and ensure transparency in sharing the final fee details. The court faulted an earlier interim order by a single judge that had restrained APHERMC from collecting information from colleges, observing that such data was essential for proper fee determination.
