VIJAYAWADA: Cinematography minister Kandula Durgesh disclosed that the state government is planning to hold discussions with film producers on essential elements that will be required for drafting a new film policy.
“We would like to announce a new film policy soon,” he declared while inaugurating the film shooting of Western Love by giving the first clap. The movie is being produced by Varihi Arts and Shakti Creations.
Durgesh said the Andhra Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan, is ready to provide all necessary incentives to foster the growth of film industry in the state.
He underlined that Andhra Pradesh is an ideal location for film shoots. Though many film shootings are taking place in the state, there is a need for state-of-the-art studios, recording theatres and re-recording theatres, akin to those in Hyderabad.
The minister said once the film industry starts prospering in AP, it will create employment opportunities for local youth. This is the reason why the state government will hold discussions with producers before finalising a new film policy for the state.
Western Love movie director M.R. Kakarla, along with producer Raavi Soujanya, revealed that their production team will comprise of locally available talent, instead of being sourced from outside.
Durgesh said he has been informed about Western Love’s storyline. The movie will deliver a strong message to the youth. The film’s lead actors are Ravi Ram Charan and Mahi.
