Andhra Pradesh government— DC File

VIJAYAWADA: Directorate of Medical Education (DME) in Andhra Pradesh has come up with two initiatives to ensure medical treatment to accident victims within the golden hour and save their life. They are Pre-hospital Notification and State Trauma Registry.

DME additional director Dr. Satyanarayana Murthy and state Trauma and Burns nodal officer Dr. Sunitha Sankar in a statement issued here on Friday stated that under the Pre-Hospital Notification initiative, the 108-ambulance staff member will alert the hospital concerned during the transportation of the accident victim.

This will ensure that by the time the victim reaches the hospital, the medical emergency team, blood, X-ray, scanning, and surgery sections will be ready to provide medical treatment to the victim.

As per the directions of Supreme Court and guidelines of the central government, details of every accident victim brought to government hospitals are to be registered in a digital format.

The State Trauma Registry is expected to help find out places where accidents are frequently occurring on highways and initiate necessary measures.

The office of DME is providing special training to health staff to implement these two initiatives.

State Health authorities have advised people to alert the 108 ambulance in case of any accident immediately and stay put with the victim and provide mental support to the victim until the ambulance and health personnel arrive.
