Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister K Pawan Kalyan on Friday launched a statewide initiative to prepare and distribute 2.5 crore seed balls as part of the government's efforts to enhance green cover and promote ecological restoration on the occasion of World Environment Day.

Speaking at the launch, Pawan Kalyan said, “We have planted 1,000 Tellaponiki saplings at a single location. This tree is used to make Kondapalli toys. On the occasion of World Environment Day, the Andhra Pradesh Government has launched a seed-ball distribution initiative to promote ecological restoration through the preparation of 2.5 crore seed balls as part of the State’s afforestation and climate-resilience efforts.”
“The programme begins today and will continue until June 15 across all districts. Over the next 10 days, we are involving the public in preparing seed balls. These seed balls are being made entirely using organic materials. During the rainy season, they will be scattered for seed sowing,” he added.
The Forest Department is gearing up to distribute 2.5 crore seed balls statewide, under the  'Harita Samaram' initiative, which is focused on promoting biodiversity and environmental sustainability across the region. A wide range of participants will be involved in the program, including political leaders, DWCRA women, government employees, students, and youth. Drone technology will also be utilised to scatter the seed balls across difficult or large terrain, reflecting a modern approach to this large-scale greening effort.
