AP Declares 388 Mandals in 21 Districts as Drought-Hit
The average rainfall from June 1, 2026 has been 197.6 mm against the normal rainfall of 424.3 mm.
Vijayawada:Andhra Pradesh government has declared 388 mandals in 21 districts of the state as drought affected.
Revenue (Disaster Management) special chief secretary G. Sai Prasad issued GO No. 4 stating that of the 388 mandals, 283 are severely affected and 105 are moderately affected.
These drought-affected mandals are located in the districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, Kakinada, East Godavari, Eluru, Krishna, NTR, Guntur, Bapatla, Palnadu, Prakasam, Markapuram, Kurnool, Nandyal, Anantapur, Sri Satya Sai, YSR Kadapa, Annamayya, and Chittoor.
The GO said though the declaration of drought during Kharif season should be made on October 31 as per the Drought Manual, drought for Kharif 2026 has been declared earlier due to 53.4 per cent rainfall deficit during June-August 2026 and the prevailing El Niño conditions,.
