Visakhapatnam: A local court has granted a five-day police remand for two men arrested in connection with an alleged terror plot after explosives were discovered during a raid in Vizianagaram district.

Siraj-ur Rehman was first taken into custody by Vizianagaram district police following the discovery of explosives at his residence. The subsequent investigation led to the arrest of a second suspect, Sayeed Sameer, in Hyderabad, according to police officials familiar with the case.

Police investigations have revealed that Siraj allegedly formed an organisation called “Aham” with approximately 12 members spread across multiple cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Warangal, with a significant presence in Vizianagaram.

In a statement to the court requesting the remand, police officials claimed that Siraj formed the Aham organisation on instructions from an individual identified only as Imran, who is reportedly based in Saudi Arabia. Police allege that Imran transferred `40 lakh to Siraj to fund the organisation's activities.

The remand report presented by police includes details of communications retrieved from the suspects’ mobile devices, including the phone belonging to Siraj. Investigators revealed that the suspects communicated using Instagram, WhatsApp, Signal, and Telegram applications, often in code language.

Also, the forensic examination of their digital communications shows conversations about purchasing explosives through online platforms like Amazon. The police statement indicates that Siraj’s Signal app was protected with the password “123321” and he operated an Instagram account under the handle “1_ummah_1_body_1_unity.”

Also, there are discussions about establishing a chemical laboratory in Vizianagaram. According to the evidence presented, Siraj allegedly planned to bring group members together at this facility to conduct experiments with explosive materials.

Chat transcripts recovered from the devices suggest discussions about targeting RSS leaders and references to creating what appear to be improvised explosive devices. In one recovered conversation, a participant mentions “I launcher banane ka process” and discusses potential targets.
