Vijayawada:The Legislative Council on Thursday passed 10 government bills amid disruption of proceedings by the opposition YSRC members demanding a discussion on “anomalies” in the Mega DSC-2025 recruitment for teachers.

When the council began the session, its chairman Koyye Moshen Raju announced rejection of the adjournment notice given by the YSRC members seeking a discussion on the mega DSC-2025. Opposition members swiftly trooped into the well, climbed up the podium and banged the table while holding placards.

They raised slogans denouncing the government for not allowing a discussion on the issue even on the last day of the session, even as they have been demanding this from the first day of the sessions on Aug. 17.

The chairman adjourned the house three times to restore order but in vain.

However, he allowed 10 government bills to be passed in the house as they had already been passed in the assembly. These are: The Andhra Pradesh Municipal Laws (Fourth Amendment) Bill 2026; The Andhra Pradesh Municipal Laws (Third Amendment) Bill, 2026; The Public Libraries (Amendment) Bill, 2026; The Omnibus (Speed of Doing Business) Bill, 2026; The Higher Education Regulatory and Monitoring Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2026; The Private Universities (Establishment and Regulation) (Amendment) Bill, 2026; The State Educational Institutions (Reservation in Teachers’ Cadre) (Amendment) Bill, 2026; The Private Skills Universities (Establishment and (Regulation) Bill, 206; The Transplantation of Human Organs (Amendment) Bill, 2026 and The Payment of Salaries and Pension and Removal of Disqualifications (Amendment) Bill, 2026.

Education minister N Lokesh, finance minister Payyavula Keshav on behalf of the chief minister, municipal administration minister P Narayana, member Nasyam Mohammed Farook and health minister Satya Kumar Yadav moved the bills for consideration and they were passed amid the din in the house.

The council unanimously resolved to adopt the government resolution, ‘The Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Amendment Act, 2024’ of the central government.

Earlier, when the chairman took up the Question Hour, only a few ministers got the chance to give replies to the queries raised by the members on issues like the PM Vidyalaxmi Scheme, funds for Godavari Pushkaralu, Right to Education Act and Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Scheme.

YSRC members continued their protest by raising slogans like ‘We want justice’, from the beginning to the end of the day’s session, and alleged that the government was avoiding a discussion on the mega DSC. The chairman adjourned the Council sine die.
