Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on former CM and YSRC president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, accusing him of showing scant respect for the judiciary.

“He (Jagan) has repeatedly evaded court proceedings in cases related to his disproportionate assets. He has even termed the serious TTD Parakamani case as a routine criminal case,” Naidu remarked in an informal interaction with media at NTR Bhavan, the Telugu Desam headquarters in Mangalagiri.

The AP CM recalled that the High Court itself has objected to attempts treating the Parakamani theft as a routine criminal case. He said the theft of offerings made by devotees is deeply linked to public sentiment and faith. It cannot be trivialised.

Naidu said YSRC MPs had also attempted to mislead Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. He described PPP as a globally successful system. It has been implemented across sectors and has delivered tangible results.

The Chief Minister maintained that the PPP-based new medical colleges in AP would increase the number of medical seats in the state, while ensuring access to quality corporate healthcare for the poor.

Turning to party affairs, the TD chief said discussions are going on with regard to restructuring of district party units. He said objections related to district party president posts are being reviewed again.

He did not rule out the possibility of reservation for women in the next elections. He underlined the need to promote capable women in leadership roles within the party. He observed that the current representation for women, which stands at 28.4 per cent, should be increased to 30 per cent.

Naidu said the list of district party presidents will be announced within two days, while the state committee will be finalised before the end of the month. He asserted that the performance of party committees will be reviewed once every three months. He warned that non-performing members will be removed without hesitation.

Emphasising on discipline, the AP CM said everyone, from the top leadership to grassroots workers, must function strictly in accordance with the party norms.
