Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has stressed the need for closer coordination between the state government and ONGC to ensure the speedy implementation of its ongoing and proposed projects.
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation chairman Arun Kumar Singh on Wednesday paid a courtesy call on Naidu at the secretariat and held discussions on the corporation’s ongoing and future operations in Andhra Pradesh.
The ONGC chief briefed the chief minister on the progress of various projects being undertaken by the company in AP, particularly in the Krishna-Godavari (KG) Basin, one of the most-important hydrocarbon-rich regions. The discussions focused on the exploration and extraction of natural gas and crude oil, as well as the company’s future expansion plans in the energy sector.
Singh explained ONGC’s efforts to strengthen energy production in AP and highlighted the corporation’s role in boosting the state’s energy infrastructure. He also outlined the company’s upcoming initiatives aimed at enhancing hydrocarbon exploration and production activities in the region.
The discussions also centered around the economic benefits accruing to the state through ONGC’s operations. Naidu emphasised the importance of increased revenue generation, employment opportunities and the positive impact of energy-sector investments on local economies.
The CM promised the corporation the government’s full support in strengthening energy security and accelerating industrial growth as part of AP’s broader development agenda.
Naidu urged ONGC to utilise its corporate social responsibility funds for the welfare and development of villages in areas where oil and natural gas extraction activities are being carried out. He called upon the corporation to contribute more actively to the development of communities affected by or associated with hydrocarbon operations.
Responding to the CM’s suggestions, Arun Kumar Singh said ONGC is supporting healthcare initiatives by providing advanced cancer-treatment equipment to hospitals in Kakinada and Guntur.
Minister for investments and infrastructure, BC Janardhan Reddy, special chief secretary MT Krishna Babu and a team of ONGC officials were present.
