The declaration outlines a roadmap to transform Andhra Pradesh into a Green Hydrogen Valley by 2030.
Vijayawada:Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has released the Green Hydrogen Valley-Amaravati Declaration, outlining a strategic plan to transform Andhra Pradesh into a Green Hydrogen Valley by 2030.
Unveiling the declaration at his camp office in the presence of chief secretary K. Vijayanand and NREDCAP managing director Kamalakar Babu on Monday, the Chief Minister said the initiative aims to establish policies for clean energy production and green hydrogen manufacturing. It intends to create conducive conditions for the growth of green hydrogen production within the state.
The core objective of the declaration is to develop the largest hydrogen ecosystem in the country, and the state government has set ambitious targets—manufacturing two gigawatts of electrolysers by 2027 and five gigawatts by 2029. Andhra Pradesh also aims to produce 1.5 million metric tonnes of green hydrogen annually.
Research and development efforts are underway to reduce the cost of hydrogen gas from ₹460 to ₹160 per kilogram. Infrastructure will be developed to support the distribution of 25 gigawatts of renewable energy by 2029. The declaration envisions the development of a dedicated Green Energy Corridor to support this initiative.
The state government has earmarked ₹500 crore for innovation and research in the sector. The declaration also includes a commitment to support up to 50 startups involved in the development of green hydrogen in the state.
