AP Cabinet Gives Green Signal To 28 Major Investment Proposals

All plans as recommended by state investment promotion board

Information minister Kolusu Parthasarathy and civil supplies minister Nadendla Manohar briefed the media on the decisions taken at the meeting presided over by chief minister Chandrababu Naidu.

The cabinet gave its green signal to 28 major investment proposals recommended by the state investment promotion board, collectively involving investments of over Rs 35,000 crore and generating nearly 41,000 employment opportunities across the state.

The major approvals related to the Deccan Fine Chemicals, the Bharat Electronics Ltd, the Blue Jet Healthcare, the Jupiter Renewables and PUR Energy, together investing Rs 9,246 crore and creating 7,766 jobs; the Mohan Spintex and ATC Tires AP Pvt Ltd investing Rs 2,261 crore with 2,125 jobs, and the Wingtech Mobile Communications investing Rs 1,061 crore in mobile phone manufacturing, generating over 10,000 jobs, the ministers said.

They said Daikin India would expand operations in Sricity with a Rs 2,475 crore investment and creating 5,150 new jobs. Sensorem Photonics India would mark Andhra Pradesh’s entry into semiconductor manufacturing, creating 622 skilled jobs. The Quantum Valley Project MoUs with IBM, TCS and L&T were ratified, aiming to position Andhra Pradesh as a tech innovation hub.

The cabinet also approved special incentive packages for several industrial units, including Ramabhadra Industries and ALEAP India and allowed land allocations for new solar, wind and hybrid energy projects proposed by Bondada Engineering, Amplus Energy and Deshraj Solar Energy, adding over Rs 15,000 crore in clean energy investment.

The cabinet cleared major hospitality projects to enhance the tourism profile of Visakhapatnam and Tirupati, under which Varun Hospitality would redevelop Taj Gateway into a 5-star deluxe hotel and IT space at a cost of `899 crore. Shravanthi Hotels & Resorts would build a cluster of IBIS and Novotel hotels in Tirupati with an input of `327 crore and Bengal Ultimate Resorts LLP would invest ₹150 crore in a 5-star resort near Tirupati.

These apart, the cabinet sanctioned the establishment of the India International University of Legal Education and Research (IIULER) in Amaravati by the Bar Council of India Trust. This high-standard legal university would reserve 20 per cent of its seats for students from Andhra Pradesh.

Further nods were for the setting up of the headquarters for the Dr BR Ambedkar Open University near Eluru to cater to distance education needs; relocation of the Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University headquarters to Rajamahendravaram to focus on Telugu language and cultural research; and creation of 2,260 Special Education Teacher posts to support inclusive education for students with disabilities, following a Supreme Court order.

The state cabinet approved various renewable energy proposals, including a Rs 9,000 crore solar project by Bondada Engineering across Ananthapuramu and Sri Sathya Sai districts and transfer of a Rs 2,920 crore wind power project to Deshraj Solar Energy Pvt Ltd.

Approval was given for a 1000mw pumped storage hydro power project by Adani Green Energy in YSR district. Infrastructure approvals also included allocation of 615 acres in Nellore to APIIC for an industrial park and grant of free land to ESIC for a hospital in Kurnool.

The cabinet endorsed significant governance changes like transfer of five mandals from Chittoor to Annamayya district, to “streamline administrative efficiency’; creation of 245 new posts in the Andhra Pradesh high court to strengthen judicial administration; and agreed to amend rules to provide permanent government employment to Sri Thota Veeranjaneyulu, whose father died in political violence in 2022.
