VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh government has banned the manufacture, processing, packing, storage, transportation, distribution and sale of non-standardised analogue paneer (artificial or non-dairy paneer) in the state for one year from September 21.

State food safety commissioner G. Veerapandian issued a notification recently, which was published in the Andhra Pradesh gazette.

Food safety authorities said the move aims to protect public health, prevent consumer deception and ensure fair practices in the food trade.

All food business operators have been directed to ensure that products sold or served as paneer comply with the applicable Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) standards. Non-dairy analogues must not be misrepresented as genuine paneer, the notification said.
