AP Attracted Rs 29.30 Lakh Crore Investments in Two Years, Says Lokesh

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh has attracted investment proposals worth Rs 29.30 lakh crore through 1,037 industrial projects over the past two years, with the potential to generate employment for 24.66 lakh people, Minister Nara Lokesh said on Thursday.
Chairing a meeting of the ministers' committee on the government's target of creating 20 lakh jobs at Undavalli, Lokesh directed officials to closely monitor all approved industrial projects and ensure they are grounded without delay.
He said departments should coordinate on land allotment, statutory approvals and incentives to facilitate speedy implementation of projects. Monthly review meetings, he added, should focus on measurable progress in grounding industries.
Lokesh said AP’s Speed of Doing Business policy had strengthened investor confidence and encouraged national and international companies to choose the state for investments. Officials must implement the policy with transparency and commitment.
Expressing confidence that the Partnership Summit scheduled to be held in Visakhapatnam in November would attract further investments, the minister directed officials to expedite renewable energy projects to meet the power requirements of upcoming industries.
He called for stronger support to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and suggested an automatic mechanism for releasing incentives to eligible units immediately after they commence operations within the stipulated timeframe.
Officials informed the meeting that incentives had been extended to 1,20,897 MSMEs during the past two years. Lokesh directed departments to accord priority to MSMEs capable of generating large-scale employment.
Ministers Ponguru Narayana, Kandula Durgesh, Gottipati Ravi Kumar and Kondapalli Srinivas attended the meeting.
Later, Lokesh reviewed arrangements for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to inaugurate the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram district on August 1. Officials made presentations on the preparations.
