AP: 5 Arrested, Gold Ornaments Worth Rs.17.50 Lakh Recovered

Kakinada: Kakinada Rural police arrested five persons—Gampala Satish, Malladi Durga Prasad, Kaladi Arjuna Rao, Gorripudi Venkata Ramana, and Rekadi Venkateswarlu—on the charge of committing thefts and recovered gold ornaments worth Rs.17.50 lakh from them.
Kakinada DSP Manish Devaraj Patil told the media here on Monday that these accused, except Rekadi Venkateswara Rao, committed thefts in locked houses. Rekadi Venkateswara Rao committed thefts separately. The DSP advised the people not to lock their doors with big locks to appear for everybody. The crime circle inspector V. Krishna, Port CI P. Sunil Kumar, Indrapalem SI M. Veerababu, and others were present.
Class 9 student dies in school altercation in Vizianagaram district
Visakhapatnam: A tragic incident occurred at a private school in the Bobbili, Vizianagaram district, resulting in the death of a Class 9 student during a confrontation with a classmate.
Sundarada Karthik, the deceased student, collapsed after being struck by another student during the altercation. Witnesses immediately transported him to the government hospital, where medical staff pronounced him dead upon arrival.
The incident came to police attention when Karthik's parents filed a formal complaint. Circle Inspector Satish Kumar confirmed that they have registered a case and launched an investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the fatal clash. Bobbili DSP Bhavya, talking to this correspondent, said that the incident was unintentional. "We have registered a case and are currently investigating the underlying causes of the altercation," the DSP stated.
She further added that a small altercation happened between two students, and unfortunately the incident happened, and said that the details will be revealed once the investigation is completed.
Youth murdered over loan default
Nellore: In a shocking incident in Viruvuru village of Podalakur mandal, a 22-year-old youth was murdered and buried near the Penna river by a gang of acquaintances. The deceased was Kayala Mohan Chand from Yanamala Vari Dinne (Nellore Rural).
According to police, the accused — identified as Puneeth Reddy, Tarun Reddy, Sridhar, and two others — were involved in business transactions with the victim. Mohan had borrowed money from the group and failed to repay it, which led to tensions.
The issue escalated during a gathering, after which the group allegedly killed Mohan and attempted to conceal the crime by burying the body near the riverbank.
Police said they took all five accused into custody. The body was exhumed and a postmortem was carried out after the assailants led the cops to the spot where they buried the body.
Rural DSP Srinivasa Rao said an investigation was on.
