Nellore: The Vikrama Simhapuri University, Kakuturu, has marked the Anti-Ragging Day on Tuesday with a pledge to maintain its ragging-free campus.

University registrar Dr K. Suneetha, who was the chief guest, has urged students to uphold discipline, mutual respect and cooperation. “Ragging is not only a legal offence but also causes severe psychological harm. The seniors should mentor juniors, and any grievances must be reported to faculty or the anti-ragging cell,” she said.

Venkatachelam sub-inspector M. Anjaneyulu warned that ragging can lead to imprisonment of up to 10 years and heavy fines. “True courage lies in friendship and respect, not intimidation,” he stressed, calling for joint vigilance by police, faculty and students.

Principal Prof. Ch. Vijaya said a ragging-free campus is a matter of pride, while student affairs coordinator Dr M. Hanumareddy outlined the ill-effects and punishments for ragging. The event concluded with an anti-ragging oath.
