TIRUPATI: YSRC leader and former minister P. Anil Kumar Yadav failed to appear before Kovur police on Saturday for an inquiry related to a case involving objectionable remarks against Telugu Desam Kovur MLA Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy.

The police had issued a notice to Anil Yadav on July 23 after receiving complaints from several locals about his recent statements. With the former minister remaining unavailable, the police pasted the notice on the gate of his residence, summoning him to attend the inquiry on July 26. However, he did not appear on the scheduled date.

Responding to the developments, Anil Yadav informed the police that he was unable to attend due to personal reasons and a pending quash petition in court. He clarified that he was not trying to evade the inquiry and had conveyed his position to the police through his legal counsel. Anil Yadav further stated that he would soon confirm a new date for his appearance.

Meanwhile, in connection with the same case, former YSRC MLA N. Prasanna Kumar Reddy appeared before the police at the Nellore Rural DSP office on Friday for questioning. A police team, led by DSP Ghattamaneni Srinivasa Rao, questioned Prasanna Kumar Reddy for nearly two hours. Officials stated that 40 questions were posed to him as part of the inquiry.

YSRC leaders Anurupa Reddy, Hari Prasad and P. Radhakrishna also presented themselves before the investigating officers as part of the inquiry process.
