Visakhapatnam: Andhra University inaugurated AP's first Generation Z-themed post office on Tuesday, bringing tech-enabled postal services to thousands of students and staff on the university campus.
AU vice chancellor Prof. G. P. Raja Sekhar unveiled the post office at the university campus in Vizag in the presence of Visakhapatnam region postmaster-general V.S. Jayasankar.
The new post office blends traditional postal services with modern technology, featuring digital-friendly counters, rapid parcel services, and student-centric solutions designed specifically to meet the needs of the younger generation.
"This is a boon for students preparing their thesis, projects and brainstorming for career development," VC Raja Sekhar said at the inauguration.
The postmaster-general emphasised on India Post's commitment to innovation and accessibility, urging students to make full use of the new facility.
The Gen-Z post office introduces several pilot services tailored for educational institutions, including career codes, digital wallet systems and E-Rakam services. These offerings aim to make postal interactions more seamless and technology-driven.
