Andhra Pradesh: TTD Begins Varuna Yagam Seeking Rains
The religious programmes will continue till September 3, with rituals scheduled daily from 9 am to noon: Reports
TIRUPATI: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) on Sunday began Karirishti Yagam, Varuna Japam and Parjanya Shanti Homam at the Dharma Giri Veda Vijnana Peetham in Tirumala, seeking timely rainfall and prosperity for the State and the country.
The rituals began with Ankurarpanam on Sunday night, conducted as per Vedic traditions. Ganapati Puja, Punyahavachanam and Prayaschitta Homam were also performed as part of the preliminary rituals.
The religious programmes will continue till September 3, with rituals scheduled daily from 9 am to noon. As many as 32 scholars specialising in Vedic, Shrauta and Smartha traditions will take part.
The rituals will conclude with Maha Purnahuti on the final day. The programmes are being conducted under the supervision of Dharma Giri Veda Vijnana Peetham principal K.S.S. Avadhani.
