Andhra Pradesh: Teacher Gets 10-Year Jail Term For Sexually Harassing Minor Girl

KADAPA: A court in Kadapa has sentenced a teacher to 10 years in prison in a case involving the sexual harassment and abduction of a minor girl after allegedly influencing her with money and gifts.
The accused, A.V. Venkata Subbarao of Bhagyanagar Colony, was working as a teacher in Ontimitta mandal when the incident occurred. According to police, he sexually harassed the girl and allegedly lured her with money and gifts before forcibly taking her away.
Based on a complaint lodged by the girl’s mother, Ontimitta police registered Crime No. 114/2013 on October 29, 2013, in connection with the alleged abduction of the girl on July 26, 2013.
The then sub-inspector D.K. Javeed investigated the case, arrested the accused and produced him before the court. Later, sub-inspector B. Pedda Obanna completed the investigation and filed the chargesheet.
The case was tried before N. Shanthi, Judge of the First Additional District and Sessions Court, Kadapa. After examining the evidence and witnesses produced by the prosecution, the court found Venkata Subbarao guilty.
The court sentenced him to seven years’ imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹5,000 under Section 363 of the IPC. Under Section 366 of the IPC, he was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment and fined ₹5,000.
Police said the prosecution established the charges against the accused based on the evidence presented during the trial.
