Andhra Pradesh Sanctions Rs 90.50 Crore for BC Students Under PM-YASASVI

Vijayawada: Minister for BC welfare S. Savitha on Friday announced that the NDA government has sanctioned Rs 90.50 crore for students from Backward Classes studying in government, private and aided educational institutions in Andhra Pradesh for the academic year 2025–26.
In a statement issued here, the minister said the amount was released as the second instalment under the PM-YASASVI scholarship scheme. Students belonging to OBC, EBC and Denotified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes would benefit through post-matric scholarships, helping those pursuing higher education in colleges and universities.
Savitha said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has been according top priority to the welfare of BC students and ensuring financial support to help them continue their education without constraints. Both pre-matric and post-matric scholarships are being provided to eligible students, she added.
The minister said Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Vidya Mitra kits were being distributed to students and fine-quality rice was being used for mid-day meals. Intermediate students were also being covered under the mid-day meal scheme.
She further said Schools of Excellence have been established in BC Gurukulas to provide free coaching for IIT and NEET examinations, aimed at improving access to higher education opportunities for BC students across the state.
