Andhra Pradesh: Police Seize Rs 34 L in Cash from Woman on Bus
The police seized the cash and stated that if the woman could not produce proper proof of the funds, the matter would be referred to the income tax department for further investigation.
Nellore: Manubolu police confiscated Rs 34 lakh in cash from a woman passenger on a private bus during a routine vehicle check on Sunday.
According to the police, the woman, identified as S.K. Parveen from Miryalaguda, was traveling from Hyderabad to Chennai on a bus operated by Keerthi Travels. Sub-Inspector S. Rakesh and his team stopped the vehicle near the Manubolu police station as part of their inspection and discovered the cash. The woman was unable to provide valid documentation or a satisfactory explanation regarding the source and purpose of the money.
The police seized the cash and stated that if the woman could not produce proper proof of the funds, the matter would be referred to the income tax department for further investigation.
When contacted, Nellore Rural DSP Ghattamaneni Srinivasa Rao mentioned that the woman claimed she was working at a jewellery shop in Hyderabad and travelling to Chennai to collect gold ornaments by paying in cash as instructed by the jeweller.
In light of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam of Jammu and Kashmir , the police have intensified vehicle checks in the region.
