Andhra Pradesh Medical Employees Union Seeks Regularisation, Clearance of Pending Dues
APMEU officials urged coordinated, issue-based struggles across departments to safeguard employee welfare.
Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Medical Employees Union (APMEU) marked its 73rd Foundation Day on Wednesday, renewing its demand for the immediate regularisation of employees and settlement of long-pending service benefits.
Speaking at the flag-hoisting ceremony at the Government General Hospital, NTR district secretary P. Nagaraju said retired medical employees were facing delays of six to nine months in receiving funeral expenses and had not been paid retirement benefits, despite the union’s six decades of service to the government.
The union’s key demands include unconditional regularisation of contract employees appointed through proper procedures, payment of 100 per cent gross salary to workers under national programmes and National Health Mission (NHM) schemes, and abolition of the Contributory Pension Scheme in favour of the Old Pension Scheme.
District president Dr Prasad stressed the need for unity among employees to achieve justice, while former state leader N. Murali Krishna recalled the union’s long-standing legacy since its formation in 1953.
Union leaders also demanded immediate clearance of pending dues such as dearness allowance arrears, leave encashment and provident fund advances. They called for retirement benefits to be released on the date of superannuation and sought a time-bound grievance redressal mechanism.
