Construction of the 50 MLD sewage treatment plant at Hukumpeta was in its final stage: Officials
KAKINADA: Public health engineer-in-chief M. Prabhakara Rao on Saturday said the government has intensified efforts to make the Godavari River pollution-free before Godavari Pushkaralu-2027.
Along with engineers of the Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation, he inspected Katheru, Dowleswaram and other locations where sewage flows into the Godavari and reviewed the technical feasibility of completely preventing the discharge of untreated wastewater into the river.
Officials informed him that construction of the 50 MLD sewage treatment plant at Hukumpeta was in its final stage.
Prabhakara Rao directed officials to expedite all pending works to ensure a clean and hygienic Godavari for devotees during the Pushkaralu. He also asked them to submit a detailed project report proposing permanent infrastructure to prevent river pollution.
Superintending engineer Rita, executive engineer Madar Shah Ali, superintending engineer (public health) Ratnakar Reddy, executive engineer Seshagiri Rao and other officials were present.
