Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday held a comprehensive review of revenue-generating departments and directed officials to work in line with the financial targets set for the 2026-27 fiscal year.

Andhra Pradesh, he said, has set an ambitious target of mobilising Rs 1.27 lakh crore in state revenue for 2026-27.

Naidu directed all revenue-generating departments to intensify collections, plug leakages and leverage technology to accelerate economic growth.

The CM said the state must convert rising investments into stronger tax revenues and long-term economic expansion. Officials must aggressively pursue pending central funds while improving efficiency across departments.

Chief secretary Sai Prasad and senior officials from the finance, transport, excise, mines, commercial taxes, forest, municipal administration and registration departments attended the review meeting.

Officials informed Naidu that the state’s own revenue increased from Rs 1,04,345 crore in 2024-25 to Rs 1,10,643 crore in 2025-26, registering a growth of nearly six per cent. GST contributed Rs 33,679 crore, while the mines department generated Rs 10,300 crore and the Stamps and Registration Department Rs 11,047 crore.

Naidu said all revenue-earning departments, including the commercial taxes, excise, mines, transport and registration, should function at full capacity and ensure that there was no loss of revenue at any level.

He observed that settlement of pending land disputes, particularly those related to Section 22A properties, could substantially improve registration revenues.

“As investments rise, tax revenues must grow proportionately,” the CM said, noting that the state had achieved nearly 38 per cent revenue growth during the first 42 days of the current financial year.

Describing districts as “growth engines” for Andhra Pradesh, he stressed that district-level economic expansion would help the state achieve its revenue goals faster. He urged officials to improve the Speed of Doing Business and introduce innovative systems to strengthen compliance and curb irregularities.

The chief minister also laid strong emphasis on the use of Artificial Intelligence and advanced analytics in tax administration. He directed officials to implement AI-driven GST scrutiny systems to identify leakages, improve compliance and prevent tax evasion without troubling genuine taxpayers.

Naidu called for greater value addition in mineral resources and red sanders exports to enhance revenues. Departments to ensure vehicle registrations are completed within 24 hours and advocated wider use of GIS mapping, drone surveys and satellite imagery to detect unauthorised constructions and improve tax assessments.
