The collector also directed officials to prepare a special traffic plan: Reports
NELLORE: District collector Himanshu Shukla directed officials to ensure foolproof arrangements for peaceful Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations and idol immersion on September 18 at Ganesh Ghat near Irugalamma Temple and Penna Bridge near Ranganatha Swamy Temple.
Reviewing arrangements at a coordination meeting at the Collectorate on Tuesday, the collector said permissions for Ganesh pandals must be obtained from the police, revenue, electricity, traffic and municipal departments, with safety norms strictly followed. He called for speedy clearances through a single-window system.
Officials were directed to ensure safe power connections, cranes, trained swimmers, police personnel and medical teams at immersion points. Silt should be removed, water depths marked and warning boards installed at vulnerable locations.
The collector also directed officials to prepare a special traffic plan, clear potholes and obstructions along procession routes and regulate DJ systems, loudspeakers and procession timings.
He called for adequate sanitation, drinking water, medical services, electricity and parking facilities to minimise inconvenience to the public.
Officials of various departments and members of the Vikrama Simhapuri Ganesh Utsav Committee attended the meeting.
