VIJAYAWADA: Shortly before the resumption of the Amaravati capital project on May 2, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has called upon Telugu Desam members, MPs, MLAs and grassroots workers to gather for the event in large numbers.

He also urged all Jana Sena and BJP leaders across the state to be present at the relaunch event.

Naidu addressed the worthies through a teleconference and said the PM would lay the foundation for works worth Rs 49,040cr. Modi would lay the stone for some works and inaugurate some other projects, collectively worth Rs 57,962 cr relating to DRDO, DPIIT, NHAI and the Railways.

Acknowledging that the voters have given a record mandate to the TD-led alliance with 93 per cent strike rate, the CM said that this was because a promise was made to the electorate that the state would be rebuilt. “Both the Centre and AP are moving ahead with close coordination. Despite a financial crunch, welfare and developmental programmes have been taken up by the present government on a large scale.”

He said the Polavaram project would be completed by 2027 and large-scale employment opportunities would be generated with the establishment of TCS in Visakhapatnam. Stating that the works for the Bhogapuram airport were moving at a fast pace, he said the LG Company would invest Rs 5,000 crore in Sri City.

Andhra Pradesh, he said, is receiving the highest amount of investments. “The Swarnandhra Vision-2047 has been formulated for the comprehensive development of the state, as our goal is decentralization of development. Though land in Visakhapatnam has been allotted to the URSA company at Rs 1.5 crore per acre, some are wrongly spreading word that it was allotted at only 99 paise per acre,” he said.

Asserting that the role of the TD was prominent in the development of Hyderabad, he noted that Telangana's major share of revenue was from Hyderabad. Similarly, more developmental works and welfare programmes can be taken up in AP with the revenue that would be generated from Amaravati, he said.

Naidu asserted, “The capital is a self-sustained project and all the basic facilities will be provided to the city in the next three years.”

"Let us organise the Mahanadu at Kadapa on a massive scale. Only our alliance should win all the elections," he said.

The chief minister announced that the promised Anna Data and Talliki Vandanam schemes would be implemented from next month.

On Simhachalam, Naidu said, “It is really painful that seven devotees died in a wall collapse there." He reviewed the situation from Amaravati. "I did not go there as local leaders said my visit would cause inconvenience to the pilgrims.”
