VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh government has released ₹2,711.79 crore for distribution of the NTR Bharosa pensions to 62,19,648 beneficiaries across the state in July.

Stating this on Sunday, minister for rural poverty alleviation Kondapalli Srinivas, said the payments would commence in the morning on July 1. The government would continue the practice of delivering pensions on the first day of every month.

The government, he said, has sanctioned funds for newly approved widow pension beneficiaries. A total of 7,792 new beneficiaries under the Spouse Pension category would receive pensions from July 1. For this, the government has released an additional ₹3.12 crore.

Srinivas said that with the latest allocation, the total expenditure on pensions since the formation of the present government has reached ₹68,598.44 crore.

He said the NTR Bharosa pension programme has emerged as a key welfare initiative aimed at providing financial support to the elderly, widows, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups.

Reiterating the government's focus on inclusive welfare, Srinivas said the regular and timely disbursement of pensions reflected its dedication to improving the quality of life of the poor and ensuring that assistance reached the beneficiaries at their doorstep.
