Andhra Links PMFME Scheme with Streenidhi to Help DWCRA Women Set Up Food Units
The scheme will enable women to establish units for processing fruits and vegetables, millets, pulses and spices, besides making pickles, flour-based products and snacks

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Minister K Srinivas on Friday said the state government had linked the PMFME scheme with Stree Nidhi Credit Cooperative Federation Limited to help DWCRA women set up food processing units.
Under the scheme, eligible Development of Women and Children in Rural Areas women can avail themselves of Streenidhi loans of up to Rs 3 lakh to set up food processing units, along with a credit-linked subsidy under the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises scheme, the minister said.
"The state government has linked the PMFME scheme with Streenidhi Credit Cooperative Federation Limited to enable DWCRA women to set up food processing units and become entrepreneurs," Srinivas said in a press release.
The government's objective is to help DWCRA women move from wage earners to entrepreneurs who can generate employment, with support extending beyond loans to technical guidance and assistance until their businesses become viable, he said.
The scheme will enable women to establish units for processing fruits and vegetables, millets, pulses and spices, besides making pickles, flour-based products and snacks.
District federations in each district will function as District Resource Organisations and identify DWCRA women interested in and capable of setting up such units, the minister said.
The government will help select women prepare Detailed Project Reports and provide assistance with procuring raw materials, technical guidance, packaging, branding and marketing.
He urged eligible DWCRA women to utilise the opportunity to become economically self-reliant and create employment for others.
Stree Nidhi Credit Cooperative Federation Ltd was established by the Government of Andhra Pradesh and Mandala Mahila Samakhyas to provide livelihood finance to women from self-help groups.
A flagship programme of the state government, Stree Nidhi provides timely and affordable credit to poor SHG women as part of the Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty's broader poverty alleviation efforts.
