Andhra IIT Guwahati Student's IAS Dream Ends in Brahmaputra Tragedy

Jammalamadugu: The death of Sai Chetana, a third-year B.Tech student at IIT Guwahati, has left her family and hometown in deep grief.
Sai Chetana's body was brought to her native village of N. Kottapalle in Peddamudiam mandal on Monday. The 20-year-old was the daughter of Jammalamadugu Tahsildar Sainath Reddy, who was inconsolable during her final rites.
According to family members, Sainath Reddy lost his wife to illness 10 years ago and had single-handedly raised Sai Chetana with great love and care. He said he saw his late wife in his daughter. Sai Chetana had reportedly told her father that she planned to prepare for the Civil Services Examination and become an IAS officer after completing her B.Tech.
Sai Chetana and her friends had gone to visit the Brahmaputra River on Saturday when she reportedly lost her footing near Lathia Bagicha Ghat and was swept away by the strong current.
Rescue teams later recovered her body, which was subsequently brought to her hometown for the last rites.
