Nellore: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu launched the much-awaited Annadata Sukhibhava for farmers sitting with farmers in the lush green fields of Veerayapalem in Prakasam district on Saturday.

“My government’s top priority is to make farmers prosperous by blending technology with welfare,” the CM declared.
As part of the first phase Annadata Sukhibhava – PM Kisan scheme, ₹7,000 each have been deposited into the bank accounts of 46.85 lakh farmers, amounting to a total of ₹3,175 crore. ₹5,000 of the amount is from the state government and ₹2,000 from the Centre under PM-Kisan.
Naidu said he is happy to see the joy in the eyes of farmers. He reaffirmed his commitment to uplift agriculture in the state. “We promised ₹20,000 per year to farmers. We will deliver it in three instalments. This is just the beginning,” he underlined.
The Chief Minister highlighted the Super Six promises made during the 2024 elections and said their implementation is bringing joy and relief to people across the state. He compared his welfare approach with that of the previous government, accusing it of failing to support farmers.
He pointed out that as part of women empowerment, free bus travel would be available to all women in the state from August 15. The government has also allocated ₹2,700 crore to provide three free gas cylinders per year to women under the Deepam scheme.
Naidu emphasised that AP now ranks number one in India in drip irrigation. Last year alone, 1.17 lakh hectares had been brought under drip irrigation, benefiting 1.11 lakh farmers. Subsidies are up to 100 per cent for SC / ST farmers and 90 per cent in Rayalaseema and Prakasam districts.
The CM said the state government has initiated large-scale procurement operations — purchasing 36 lakh metric tonnes of paddy from 6 lakh farmers in the Kharif season alone. Payments are being made within 48 hours of procurement. Support prices have also been given for mangoes, chillies and tobacco to ensure that farmers do not suffer losses
Naidu assured that Velugonda Phase-1 would be completed by the next season, bringing Krishna water to Prakasam district. He reiterated his goal of making Andhra Pradesh the number one state in India by 2047, similar to how he transformed Telangana earlier.
In a sharp attack, the Chief Minister accused the previous YSRC government of mishandling funds, insulting women, and creating fake narratives. “Politics should be about values and service, not abuses and threats,” he remarked, referring to past incidents.
For the first time, Naidu addressed the implications of the recently announced 25 per cent tariff hike by US President Donald Trump on AP’s aquaculture sector.
"The increase in the US tariffs will pose a burden on our aqua farmers. We’ve taken serious note of this. We will meet all stakeholders in the next couple of days to chart out a concrete action plan," the CM said.
He reiterated the state’s ongoing support for aquaculture, highlighting subsidised electricity at ₹1.50 per unit for aqua farmers and doubling support for fishing families from ₹10,000 to ₹20,000, benefiting 1,29,178 fisherfolk under the Matsyakarula Sevalo initiative.
