Vijayawada: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has said tenders were issued for works worth Rs 50,552 crore while works commenced at 74 projects sites of capital Amaravati in the present phase.

Naidu was addressing a review meeting on the progress of construction in Amaravati at the Secretariat on Tuesday. He directed officials to ensure that the construction works are completed in record time. Works should be completed six months ahead of schedule.

Naidu reviewed the progress of the capital construction, land allocations to various agencies and other pending matters with officials from the CRDA and ADC. Urban development minister P. Narayana, municipal authorities, CRDA, ADC officials and representatives from the contracting firms were present.

The Chief Minister reviewed the progress of infrastructure development in LPS layouts, as well as the construction of residences for ministers, MLAs, officials, employees, and judges; the road networks; utility ducts; trunk infrastructure and flood-control measures.

He said tenders have been issued for works worth Rs 50,552 crore while work on 74 projects has commenced. Contractors must execute these projects in a faster manner without compromising on quality.

Additionally, Naidu said works would be monitored in real time and projects must proceed in “autopilot mode.” Regarding returnable plots, he called for measures that would not inconvenience farmers. He stressed the need to address farmers’ concerns without impacting the master plan.

Responding to this, minister Narayana assured the CM that the issue would be assessed and resolved within a week. Contractors informed Naidu that materials such as iron and other supplies brought during the previous government’s term were pilfered, and sand stockpiles meant for construction removed by past administrators.

The CM asked officials from the mining department to replenish the sand stocks.

Naidu told them that approvals should be expedited for agencies intending to construct offices in Amaravati. He called for quick land allocation to institutions such as BITS Pilani, XLRI etc. Additionally, he directed continuous monitoring of development progress by the 72 organisations that have received land in the capital region.

Naidu called for creating an ecosystem centred on the knowledge economy and startups in the capital. He also urged inviting India’s top ten real estate companies to undertake projects in the region.

To transform the capital into a green energy corridor, he advocated promoting EV vehicles. Officials must monitor and display air quality across Seed Capital, Capital City and Capital Area regions.
