ANANTAPUR: Anantapur youth Bisathi Bharath, who has been appointed as a United Nations Youth Coordination Officer with UNFPA India, New Delhi, received accolades from United Nations officials on Wednesday for his contributions to tribal development initiatives.

Bharath has been entrusted with coordinating the Adi Karmayogi Fellowship, which is being implemented across tribal districts of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

The Adi Karmayogi Fellowship is a flagship joint initiative of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, and UNFPA India. The programme aims to empower tribal communities through grassroots engagement and youth-led development. Under the fellowship, Adi Karmayogi Fellows work directly in tribal regions to promote Union government schemes, conduct household-level surveys to assess access to welfare programmes, prepare village-level development plans, and support improvements in health and education services.

Bharath played a key role in the successful implementation of the fellowship by coordinating with Adi Karmayogi Fellows, district- and block-level tribal development authorities, State government officials and United Nations teams.

In recognition of his contributions, UNV India Country Coordinator Sushil Choudhary and Dr Nilesh Deshpande of UNFPA India felicitated Bharath at the United Nations Office in New Delhi on Wednesday. Mr Choudhary said Bharath’s grassroots exposure, networking abilities and coordination skills were instrumental in the success of the fellowship, helping translate policy intent into meaningful action at the community level.
