Anantapur Students Win Special Award for Multi-Utility Stick at Science Fair
Anantapur: Two girls from a government school in an interior village in Kanekal mandal, Anantapur district, received a special award at the National-level Southern India Science Fair held in Puducherry from January 21 to January 26. Patil Geetha Reddy and Mahalakshmi, both 9th-grade students at Hanakanahal ZP High School, Kanekal mandal, participated in the fair with their invention, the Multi-Utility Stick for elderly people, which won a special prize.
Headmaster B. Venugopal stated that the students represented Andhra Pradesh at the science fair after proving their abilities at the mandal, district, and state-level events. Encouraged by their guide teacher Meda Prasad, Patil Geetha Reddy and Mahalakshmi created the Multi-Utility Stick, designed to assist elderly people by providing multiple facilities.
The stick features a torchlight for use in the dark, a small chair that can be used to sit while standing for extended periods, and a separate pocket to securely store a mobile phone.
The students received a special prize for their innovative project at the National-level Southern India Science Fair. Headmaster Venugopal and the villagers of Hanakanahal praised the students and their guide for their achievement.
