Anakapalli: Three members of a family were severely injured after allegedly setting themselves on fire following a family dispute in Raiwada village of Devarapalli mandal in Anakapalli district.
The injured were identified as Challa Eswar Rao, his wife Nagamani and his mother, Varahalamma (60).
According to reports, Eswar Rao, a native of Raiwada, married Nagamani, who belongs to Gandavaram village in Chodavaram mandal, 15 years ago. The couple has two children, Navya and Sahith. Eswar Rao's mother Varahalamma also lived with them.
The family members had frequent arguments. Nagamani had been staying at her brother's house for the past two years following disputes within the family. Around two weeks ago, Varahalamma visited her and convinced her to return home.
On Sunday around 8 pm, another argument broke out between the couple and Varahalamma. As the dispute escalated, the two children were sent outside the house. Shortly afterwards, locals heard loud cries and rushed to the spot, where they found the three family members in flames.
They were immediately shifted to a government hospital for treatment and later to KGH for better treatment. Further details about the incident are awaited.
