It also approved Rs 2,540 crore for façade, glazing and cladding works in the secretariat, GAD and HOD towers, and Rs 798 crore for civil works in the assembly building.
Vijayawada:Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has stated that the government’s vision is to develop Amaravati as a “green and blue” city with high living standards.
The capital would also emerge as a major educational hub, he said on Thursday and asked officials to develop Amaravati into a revenue-generating city. The capital must reflect Telugu culture while embracing iconic and high-rise infrastructure.
Chairing the 60th meeting of the Capital Region Development Authority at the Secretariat, the CM stressed that all constructions in the capital should be architecturally striking and culturally loaded. He reiterated the government’s vision of building Amaravati as a “green and blue” liveable city, adding that premier institutions such as BITS Pilani would help position it as a major educational hub.
Naidu called for expediting infrastructure development. He proposed an iconic bridge across the Krishna river to strengthen the capital’s connectivity with Vijayawada. He also emphasised innovative designs for government buildings, including the assembly, to offer a memorable experience to visitors. Work on the Inner Ring Road should be initiated at the earliest.
Highlighting Amaravati as a growth engine, the CM said the capital must evolve into a hub of economic activity, attracting investments across sectors. He proposed a dedicated financial district for banks and financial institutions and suggested advanced urban systems such as district cooling and duct-based supply of water, power and gas.
The authority cleared multiple proposals, including an administrative sanction of Rs 1,208.41 crore for the twin towers in the Quantum Valley.
It also approved Rs 2,540 crore for façade, glazing and cladding works in the secretariat, GAD and HOD towers, and Rs 798 crore for civil works in the assembly building.
Infrastructure works in LPS Zone-11—covering roads, drainage system, water supply and sewerage disposal — were approved, along with the nod for rerouting of the 220 kV power lines.
Amendments were cleared to provide annuity and pension benefits to farmers in the second-phase LPS villages, with enhanced lease amounts and annual increments for ten years.
Land allocations were also approved, including 1.78 acres in the financial district for the Securities and Exchange Board of India, 4.23 acres for Swaminarayan Gurukul International School, 2 acres for the Fire Services Department at Rayapudi, 3 acres for DAV School at Nekkal, and 0.49 acres for APCOB.
Earlier, representatives of BITS Pilani met the chief minister and briefed him on the progress of their Amaravati campus. The institute plans to establish dedicated departments for Artificial Intelligence and Quantum technologies, with admissions slated to commence from the 2027 academic year.
The institution would invest around Rs 250 crore in expansion, and develop the campus in three phases to accommodate up to 10,000 students. Naidu suggested that the campus also promote startups in quantum technology.
Senior officials from municipal administration, CRDA, finance, forest departments and AGCIL attended the meeting.
